The “Diocletian’s Chest” is an educational project of the City of Split, implemented in partnership with the Association of Tourist Guides Split #DTVS. The project aims to introduce children and young people to the rich cultural and historical heritage of Split and encourage them to understand, appreciate, and preserve it.
Through workshops, field trips, and interactive content, students learn about the history of their city, develop an awareness of the importance of cultural heritage, and learn how to responsibly pass it on to future generations.
Since its launch in 2012, the project has brought together a large number of students, teachers, school coordinators, and tourist guides. Today, more than 1,700 students, over 70 teachers from all Split primary schools, and numerous members of the Association of Tourist Guides Split participate in it every year.
The value of the project has also been recognized internationally. The City of Split and the Association of Tourist Guides Split #DTVS project “Diocletian’s Chest” received significant recognition from the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations (WFTGA), which highlighted it as an example of good practice in educating children about cultural heritage and its preservation.
The World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations (WFTGA), based in Vienna, brings together national associations from approximately 80 countries worldwide and represents more than 150,000 tourist guides. This international recognition is a testament to the quality of the project and the dedicated work of all its participants over the years.
The Association of Tourist Guides Split proudly participates in this project, contributing to its success through the knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm of its members.
